Thanks for the pictures, Aud. Even if you hadn't said, I would know you were in Amsterdam after seeing the first picture of the canal and bicycles.

First picture is one of the smaller canals, the second one is the Oude Schans, with the Montelbaan's toren. My sister used to live there when she was just married, in the early fifties. We used to have a record player sitting by the window, and we used to turn it on full blast, with the two Americans Les Paul and Mary Ford, and I think they were singing "Dear heart" We did that when the tour boats came by, and see all the faces turned up to our window, we would stand and way like mad......LOL The crazy things one did when you are a teen ager........

I am sure that you do eat lots of herring and smoked paling in Norway as well. In Holland you buy these delicacies from little market carts, they often have lots of choices of different fish, smoked, pickled, or salted, and sometimes even panfried. Yummy

Thanks for sharing all the fun you had Aud

hugs from Els

Els, I can "see" you and your sister singing in the window!LOL! I had a chanal tour myself, and would have been thrilled if "the natives" had entertained us!

We really had a great time, but not ENOUGH time, so I certainly will go back to explore more! More art and more yarn craft; I planned to find a yarn store, but did not see any, (I am sure I passed some) I think we were so happy for the nice weather and the opportunity to get some summer feeling, that we sat down and enjoied the sun, the view , the arcitecture and people passing by, much more than we use to. And THAT is what holidays are for, isn't it?

Peoples in Amsterdam were so sweet and easy to talk to; I think I spoke more to my friends' neighbours those few days, than I have done to my own since the summer! AUD ;-))
