Competition Open to All

Hi Everyone,

As a thank you for all those taking part in our wonderful 6x6 monthly square exchange, AND also as a thank you to those who don't ... for putting up with us, Cher and Nora as founder members, have decided to post a competition for anyone to join in on. The winner will receive a surprise winning prize for entering.

All you have to do is answer this question by guess work of course.

QUESTION How many Foot of Squares have been made by RCTY'ers since it began two years ago.

Send your answer to Nora Balcer NoraBalcer at aol dot com. subject line COMP Answer.

Each square is 6inches on each side, and although some have received more than the asked amount of two, this is worked out on the original format of just the 2 squares which side by side is one foot.....is that a big clue??? You decide.

The winner will be the first one received that is either spot on or the nearest TO the answer. so if the answer is 100ft and one person writes

96 another 101, and another 98 then the winner would be the one who posted 98. in the event of two or more people getting the same correct answer then Nora will decide by looking at the time the answers were sent to her, and chosing the earliest of those replies. Her decision is final...

6x6 management partners are not taking part this is from us all to you, as a THANK YOU.

A mystery Gift will be sent from Cher to the winner once it is known who that is.

You have until 2nd Oct 2005 when the competition closes..good luck, any questions to Nora please. The winner will be announced on RCTY when Nora has found out who it is.. many thanks Cher Nora and Norma.

And Nora, you thought this was going to be easy !!! LOL Most Americans have no idea about the metric system, except for the two-liter soda bottles. This should be very interesting !!!

Hi Anna Maria: Four squares will equal 30 centimeters on each side, a total of 900 square centimeters. Marie and the cats

Ooops, 144 square inches to a square foot. 12 inches to a linear foot. Marie and the cats

A foot equals 12 inches so a square foot would be 12 by 12.

Do you mean how many Square Feet of Squares?

101 is closer to 100 than 98 is.

Are you going to go like they do on THe Price Is Right? Closest to the answer without going over?

Hugs, Katherine

True, but did you notice the "nearest TO the answer". That means if you go over (101) closer to 100, but as it's over the right answer, then you aren't the winner :)

Johanna, confused about square feet / feet / centimeter...

Just for clarification: is this how many feet of squares, *if laid end to end*, or how many *square feet* of squares? (I'm thinking it would take four 6-inch squares to make one square foot).

Does the *feet of squares* include this month and October and what about the ones that haven't been received yet? Marie and the cats

Obviously, it's a matter of interpretation. To me, the "nearest to" a number could be either less or greater than the number.

A foot is equal to 30.5 centimeters, as determined by my measuring tape which has both number scales.

laughing, laughing laughing....this is going to be a lovely muddle of inches and squares, and headcounts and multiples by 48, minus the ones you missed and counting who was there all along and who came in int the middle. Add to that that it was changed to square feet, minus Chers and Noras and no start multiply use a square root and adjust the centimeters.....ahhhhh, I just lost count.....Many it is, still laughing with tears in my eyes...

Good night everyone, happy dreams of all those squares, like flying carpets.....LOL

That would be four squares right.....So if I did make 48 squares I divide it by 4. That is my square fotage. I can also lay them all out on the floor and start measuring......hummmm, that means I cannot walk around anymore until it is all done. Oh yeah I have that many squares....... Sigh, I will stick to knitting, even knitting lace patterns, is easier than this, you guys can have the math....LOL

Just to add to that two and a half cm fit in one inch......6 inches is

6x21/2 =15 cm. squared is 30 x30cm is the same as 12x12"

OK Girls......each square is 6inches across lay them\ in a \row, and you are looking at the length, two squares is twelve inches which equals one foot (1ft) so try to work out how many people have participated at a foot each, if you think that over the last two years the amount of people who have signed up and of course resigned is a hundred then your answer will be

100ft..

It cant be done in metres as two squares are 12nches and that is 1ft...not the depth just the length if you laid all the squares out in a row...

We thought this would make you all use your bonze's LOL.....judge only on two squares per person, regardless of\ if they received ten two or twenty or none at all...count mine Nora's and Norma's in, we just won't be able to do the competition, even though Nora isn't telling me the number...this is our thankyou to you all.....just try and work out how many people signed up each month for twenty four months and that is how many feet there will be...

Good that has got ya all's thinking.....I haven't the foggiest, and you don't have to be eact if there is a 100ft and the most\ any of you guesses is 60ft then that will be the winner

it's gonna be a right laugh here watching it all.....lol...it won't matter who has signed up or how mny times, it's how many squares do you think have been made in two years, if you've signed up every month for the last\ two years of 24mnths although it is only 23mnths as I didn't do the first DEC month if you all remember...then that one person alone has had or should have had 23 lots of squares so\ that on it's own is 23ft...

Cheers....Cher
