DIGITAL GRANNY IS BACK!

Els, you are using a Mac, right? The Internet Options and Delete files may only be available in IE on a Windows system. The Digital Granny site probably just doesn't work with your IE. Or you are just trying to get to it when it's not working. Just now, I tried it again and got a database error It's up - it's down - it's up - it's down - and so it goes.

Ah, a Mac. That would explain it. Still, there must be a way on a Mac to dump the stored files. I wouldn't begin to guess what it might be. Time for Mac users to step forward and save Els!

But I do agree, that site is essentially quirky.

Thank you SO much! And it's one of those "Duh" things isn't it? As soon as I followed your instructions I thought "Oh DUH, I knew that!" *tsk* Ah well.... now I know for sure again, thanks again! :o)

Send it this way, Katherine! I don't mind the heat at all... especially since I'd love to use the pool more than a handful of times this summer... I just don't like it when it's humid.

Hi Jane, I have 5.1 Internet Explorer. Maybe because I work on a Mac it works differently. I do not have windows either, since I work on a G4 Mac. This is what I can see on my pull down menu when I click on Tools in the menu bar: Track aution; auction manager; download manager; auto fill forms; show ralated links; MSN.com; MSN hotmail; encarta on line. I have gone over all the other menu options and there is no where anything that comes close to:" delete files" or clear cache" I do know that in my oldNetscape you could do that. Is it possible that the cache is automatically cleared. ?

Hi Jan, yes I came to that conclusion as well, it is a bit different for a Mac user. I does not matter, I pass on seeing it and go on to something else....LOL

I'm Mac-ignorant, Els. Thoughts: you can always use the refresh or reload option to cause your browser to go back to a fresh load of a troublesome site.

Also, your help file, search for "cache" or "temporary internet files."

Also, wherever in that browser that your options are, you could search around there a bit.

Now, I will bow to someone (anyone!) who knows more about Mac than I do.

Best regards, JaneB

But I agree that the site is generally troublesome and is causing its own problems in all likelihood.

Oh, Gem, you can have it! It is almost too hot to breathe. ANd we don't have humidity, thank goodness! With that, it would be totally unbearable.

LOL As I mentioned earlier, we have hot, hot times of the year, but they are usually mercifully brief. If not, we would end up with horrendous forest fires.

I just tried it and it is up again. I didn't notice until now that are 25 pages of squares with 20 on each page. Wow!

They are all supposed to be, but sometimes they don't dump when they should. I hate storing files on my computer, I set mine to dump every time I log off.

I think most areas are like that at certain times of the year. In March, especially, but mostly in the spring.

It's a law from the 70s (do you remember, Suez Channel, oil crisis and so on...) Italy has to buy almost all fuel resources from abroad (apart some natural gas) and it would be too expensive to heat 24/7. Each town council decides how many hours the heat can be on, in my town it's 12 hours, if I remember correct. During exceptional cold periods these hours can be extended, of course. Each condo then decides when to use these hours (usually after 10 AM). Waking up in the morning can be quite shocking. The first I made was to switch on the electrical fan in the bathroom (almost everyone has one).

Hugs,

Imagine how much fossil fuel we'd save if we'd do this in the USA! As as I say that, I think, and not proudly, but Americans would never forgo their comfort in such a manner. Bravo, (or brava?) Italy!
