DIGITAL GRANNY IS BACK!

There are two seasons in Ontario.... Winter and Under Construction! LOL I actually saw a t-shirt in a store once that said that... I really wish I had bought it when I had the chance now.

Not too nice to have someone else make that decision for you. :o/

Since moving into this house, we don't use the furnace in the night at all... it is a well insulated house with no drafts. Holds in the heat in the winter, and the cool in the summer. In winter we turn the furnace on high to take the chill out of the air, then turn it off until the house starts to feel cool... we do turn it on shortly before bedtime to warm the place up, and then turn it off just before snuggling under the covers. Yes, it is a little cool when you first get out of bed in the morning, but I'm usually the first one up and turn the furnace on when I pass by heading to the washroom.... then I snuggle under the covers again for about 15 minutes while the house is warming up. Only a couple of times did we actually need to leave the furnace running all night (at a much lower temperature).. due to the change in the winds.

In early to mid spring we rarely use the furnace at all... unless it is really chilly, then we just turn it on to take the chill out of the air. That's usually enough for the entire day. The same thing takes place in mid to late autumn. Although I wasn't thrilled with having to leave my parents' home, I finally feel at home here and am glad that we found this place. :o)

We have a coffee mug that tells us the mozzie is the provincial bird of Saskatchewan, Shelagh! Mind you, having lived in both provinces I'd say there's not much to choose between them regarding the size and numbers of those pesky critters. LOL!

We have the worst type in Scotland called midges.

Are they what we call "no-see-ums"? So tiny that you can't see the little critters, but they seem to lie in wait and devour people at every opportunity?

As a matter of the fact, each year there are a lot of discussions about it and many people want to have a separate heating system in their own apartments (this causes even bigger discussions at the condo meetings).

Ah Mirjam I think I know what you are talking about.....

You are thinking of the modern wind generators, those wonderful sleek props sitting on a tall pole (I know that there are many of these in Yuma ARZ.) When the Dutch drive by those swizzing slicing through the air props, the call them, laughingly, the Belgium airforce. Slightly different from pesky Mosquitos but a smile anyway
