Congrats! Be sure you wear a respirator or particle mask rated for dust when drilling holes in shells. The dust can be very toxic. Barbara Dream Master

harry, my suggestion...

if a piece does not say "drill me here" when you pick it up, *DON'T* force yourself to drill it! Leave some for wirewrap/etc...if you try to make yourself do it on every piece, it will become a struggle, then yoiu won't enjoy it.

Not saying don't take the challenge to try to find the spot...but don't make it a chore!!! Just let the pieces tell you!!!

If a bead doesn't speak to me, I set it aside. I have 2 beads that I have had for 10 years, that I can't make yet. And the funny thing is, right now, I can tell they weren't *that* great, but I think I spent about $5 each on them at that time.

But conversely, if one starts to whisper "drill me", then do it. You might be surprised!

Oh I know that for sure. I make absolutely sure I don't breath the dust, but when I drilled them I had them under water. Harry New Zealand Paua Shell at

Have fun... I did after I close my eyes and pulled down on the lever and heard that grinding sound! LOL Then I opened my eyes and the little guys were just fine and seemed to enjoy it. :) Now they are perfect to use for anything. lol Harry New Zealand Paua Shell at

]ROFL... what kind of holes were they? Come to think of it... ]who in there right mind would buy a hole. A hole is empy.. ]nothing there.. like the center part of a doughnut. lol ]Wanna buy a bridge? {{ slapping self now }} lol

the ad says: "We are frequently asked for beads with larger holes. We've included the most popular hole sizes in this catalogue.

[large blank space, for pictures]

then the prices. All holes shown lifesize - no mix and match. These will actually work just as well if you are trying to make your holes smaller.

Each hole will come filled with pure Vermont fresh air, air that Howard Dean once breathed, sealed fresh in a clear ziplock bag.
