Beki Beki Beki -- Santa Fe

You mentioned on another thread that you were going to Santa Fe for the Bead Expo....where else might you be headed for shows this year? Those of us newly located in California want to know.

There is the Bead Faire in Santa Monica each year... Gem Faire puts them on.

B&B show in Milwaukee in May and the Puget Sound Bead Festival in July.

We still can't do more than 2 to 3 shows per year...the kids are all teenagers...and well, frankly I have worked too damn hard for my home to leave them alone in it too often. ;o)

I am looking forward to when we can do many shows per year....I miss making personal contact with my customers. Let me state for the record that I do NOT miss the aches and pains of doing a show, however...lol.

I am planning on attending By the Bead Blue Sea down in Cambria in June...maybe I we can find a way to meet up Becki??? Wouldn't that be totally cool?!

I never get to do things like this! Last year I took a beading class at BABE from Huib Peterson. I had an absolute blast! I even stayed at the hotel and ordered in room service one night!! =o)

So, this year I am using up my remaining savings (dog had surgery last month) to go to this retreat.

My close brush with death last year has given me a new perspective on how I should be living my life. Working and spending any other free time abosorbed in my kids wasn't working for me. ;o) So now, I plan on taking some time just for myself. Whatever I want to do. The better I take care of myself, the better I can take care of the people I love.

I figure...what better way to take care of myself than to surround myself with other beaders! =o)

You are by SLO? That's not far from Cambria...I can take an extra day. Cotati (named after Indian Cheif Kotate) is in the heart of Sonoma County. It is about 45 minutes (depending on traffic) from San Francisco. Its about 30 minutes from the Napa Valley, 30 minutes from the coast, an hour from the hot springs, 3 hours from the Giant Redwoods...basically it just sits right in the middle of some of California's greatest places. =o) I feel blessed to live here.

We will meet...most definately....

Beki -- 45 minutes from San Francisco described it for me. I picked up my current houseguest at the San Jose airport -- I know how to find San Fran, LOL. And yes, I am 1-1/2 hours from SLO, which is about as close as anything gets to me. I describe my location as 1/2 way between Bakersfield and nowhere. LOL

Vicki -- Vince and I were at a Mexican restaurant in Nipomo on the way to LA (actually I drive to this restaurant all the time to eat. I found it when I took my rental truck back to the dealer after unloading, and liked it a lot). The waitress already knows me, and a lady sitting at the bar asked me where I lived. By the time we got done talking, she was ready to move here. It is WAY out there, but also way cool. I love quiet and privacy. As soon as I get rid of all the damn houseguests (there always seems to be someone here, LOL), I get to enjoy it again! Actually I have most of this week to myself, and am loving it.

That is so very Calif. Society there is so malleable. My favorite thing about Calif. Well, that and dear friends, and private wilderness places.

Alaska is like that too.
