Good ideas. I do tell her what a wonderful person she is but I can certainly do it more often!
Meeting one's Inner Goddess

Hi JoAnn: I have recommended a book named "For Goddess's Ske" by Hailey Klein to several of my clients, and have coached through discovery with it.
I also conduct seminars called "Hello, nice to Meet Me" about meeting your true self.
The most important thing that Lori has to do is decide that she is going to stop tolerating her current life and build the life she desires and deserves. Until SHE is ready to uncover the tolerations and the clutter and do something about them, she will remain where she is. Some things we tolerate are not enough to change us...and that's okay. Think about the sh*t we tolerate everyday. Some of it won't ever be changed because it's not that big a deal...it doesn't keep us from moving forward..we just TOLERATE it and keep going.
Same thing for clutter...of words and thoughts that litter our minds. I also have a course on clearing that clutter.
There are several techniques that she can do quickly, but only if she wants things to be different. Creative visualization is a key element in having the life you want. A key element. To look that person and that life in the eye everyday is amazing. And even if she/you are not there, a picture of the life you deserve/want and in fact NEED,can serve as a reminder of your worth, for lack of a better word at this hour. Make a collage with pics and words torn out of magazines that signify the person and life that you are desiring at this moment. Put it prominently in front of your face. Reengineer the way you talk to yourself (this takes practice...a coach can help) and about yourself. Self discovery is frightening to most of us. But how many of us feel so much better when we are moving...moving toward...moving away.
But until we are selfish enough to want to have what we deserve, want and need, then all of the external trappings will never work in the long term.
JoAnn, I'll be home from Thursday until Sunday night. If you would like to talk, or if you think that Lori would like to talk to me, I'd be happy to do that. I have a lot of very effective self-discovery exercises that can help her with uncover some of the areas in which she might want some coaching, help and support.

I'd like that. I really care for her and it saddens me to see this wonderful, intelligent woman suffering.
Teach her how to say "No". If you can't say "no" to others and yourself, you also can't say "yes". This also help define oneself, and also examine what value you put on your time, your activities, and also on yourself.

I personally have trouble saying no. I belong to the Embroiderers' Guild and wear several hats. Whenever there is a computer-related task, I want to volunteer. My region direct and assistant region direct (both are friends) know this so when something is mentioned, they hand me chocolate and say "Put this in your mouth!" :-)
I love that magazine - I get that one as well as several others by the same publisher.
I agree with learning how to meditate. That's the key to pretty much any kind of journey work. Learn how to breathe and to center yourself.
There are lots of books on this topic in the metaphysical sections of bookstores and libraries - maybe your friend might enjoy looking through some of these.
Could be time to get her a present!
Yes! I like Sage Woman alot too. It's like sort of seeing other women live in the world of their goddess that makes it OK for me too. It's an affirmation of the goddess and being a woman.

But if someone is convinced they have no Inner Goddess, or the refuse to look, there isn't much you can do. They need a therapist, because there are Things In The Way that we, as friends, cannot move for them. ----Although the support we can give them on that journey is invaluable.

Yup. I've hung a bulletin board right next to my bed, so it's the last thing I see before I go to sleep every night, and the first thing upon awakening. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
OMG!!! This is SO important, and often overlooked. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
Have you ever asked yourself exactly why? ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
I honestly don't know why. I wonder if part of it doesn't stem from the need to please due to the stuff that happened to me as a child.
I didn't ask if you KNEW, silly! :-)
I asked if you had ASKED yourself why. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
I have been curious. I figured part of it could be ADD-related as well. Any chance YOU have some insights on why we over-extend ourselves?
My reason is simple. I want to be loved. ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
I hear that!

Amen. Most of the time I know I'm loved, but then there are those days.

I suspected as much about myself but I can't tell you how wonderful it is to know that *I* am not alone.
