I'm too closely connected to Philly for my liking, but yeah, Tastykakes rule! Don't Devil Dogs seem a little DRY?
DISCLAIMER FOR THE FOLLOWING: No connection; just found this interesting! There's a guy who finds/develops(?) copycat recipes, and there's a butterscotch krimpet listed in one of his books! (I don't have the book, but I saw him on HSN -- well, it was a home shopping network -- and he has a web site:

I was given the following recipe years ago, but I never tried it. If anyone cares to risk it, let me know how it goes:
Peanut Butter Tandy Kake
Combine- 4 eggs (whip to lemon color) 1 cup milk 2 Tbls oil 1 tsp vanilla
Mix in--- 2 cups sugar 2 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder pinch of salt
Grease jelly roll pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Pour above mixed ingredients into pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes, remove from oven. Cake will not brown. Spread with 1/2 jar of creamy peanut butter. Cool and freeze for 45 minutes.
Melt 8 oz. Hershey bar in double boiler and spread on cake. Let chocolate set, and cut into squares.
