Has anyone kept in touch with BBL? The fires are approaching Big Bear as I write this. Hope she is OK along with her cabins and quilts.

DH said the same thing tonight at dinner. Haven't heard from her in ages.

To give you an idea of how bad it is, we're getting the smoke from the fires there in our area -- bad enough that we can see, smell and taste it! I really hope they get it under control soon now! I can't imagine how frightening it must be for the people nearby.

Howdy!

I just "talked to" BBL/Phyllis. She's fine, the cabins at Big Bear are fine, so far; her property is on the other side of the highway from the fires. Today. While there this week she took the quilts and needlework from the cabins and carried them home w/ her. She said that a BB local told her today that "the winds have shifted and it's looking better for Big Bear."

thanks for the "good" news Sandy! BBL is once of the "old" posters I miss.

Yep, I just heard from BBL too and got the same great news. XXXing my fingers all stays that way for her.

Yikes!

Just shows how quickly these fires bloom and blow out of control.

Bbl lives in Yucca Valley; she's been watching the firefighters come in from all over; YV takes good care of the ff. (She & Mr.Bb will be moving back to P.S. soon.)

I was disappointed to learn that developers were clearing the pastures next to our neighborhood to put in a few hundred homes and an elementary school. Need the school but it didn't have to replace the brush, grass, mesquite trees, sunflowers in that spot. But then we had those brush fires in Dec. & January, w/in a block of our house; won't be happening again w/ the new construction. *sigh*

Y'all be careful out there near those fires; this is not fun!

We spent last Saturday driving through the Big Bear Lake area. It is so beautiful. Can't believe it is in fire now. A soccer team from that area was on the plane with us flying to Chicago. They were very well behaved. They slept most of the time because they had left home about

4 am to make the flight.
