Well, the large Mariner's Compass top is finished!! I have to check to see if it's square and then I will figure out how I'm going to get it all quilted. I'm still working on the smaller version - have to put the pieced border and then the remaining borders on. I'm thinking that I might get the mini one entered in the county fair...maybe I can get the large one done in time for the state fair...but not holding my breath.
I'm entering a lined jacket that I made and will probably enter a dress for Rebekah as well. SO..that's the kind of craziness that I'm working on now.

How exciting! I'd love to see pictures of both the full sized and smaller ones. How big is big and how small is small? I'm thinking of teaching MC in the fall session. Any hints you might have would be GREATLY appreciated. joan

I will try to get a picture of the large top - small one is still istting on my desk. I actually got the pattern from a magazine and just changed up the colors to fit our decorating scheme.
The first thing I can suggest as far as a hint goes is - PATIENCE!!!! This now'bout drove me insane because of all the pieces and trying to remember which went where AND all of the templates, then piecing the 1 border...argh! But I *love* the end result!! I just need to have a time where the kids and animals aren't around so that I can clean the dining room floor and lay it out to baste through everything since there's no way I can get it done by a long-arm quilter between now and either fair . When DH says something is good enough to compete, I tend to listen to him because otherwise, nobody would see the kind of work I can do...so yes, I'm shooting to get the large one in the state fair...that give me until early September to get it quilted.
Will clean off the dining room table - or maybe pin it on a wall for a pic and get it uploaded ASAP.

P.S. To make the small one, I just took all the sizes for the large one and halved them. Made it easy for me since I already had some of the templates that I needed. For the rest, I took the pattern sheet to the UPS store and had them reduce the patterns by 50%.
