My sweet mother....

Mar 05, 2009 34 Replies

Yesterday was my Mother's birthday. I talked with her for a quite a while on the phone and she was sounding pretty good. A bit ago my sister called, sobbing. Mother passed away this morning. Evidently her heart just gave out. The staff at the home started CPR as soon as they found her, and paramedics were there in less than 5 minutes. But.....

I knew she was ready to go. She told me at Christmas that she didn't think she would be around long. But she sounded so good yesterday. At least she went peacefully, and the last words I spoke to her were "I love you". But it hurts.

Thanks for letting me vent a bit.

Oh, Pati, but what a sweet way to go. May we all be so fortunate.

She got to talk to you and her family, everyone got their "I love you" 's in and she had a happy, happy day.

You will always miss her but you got to say good by to her in a good way.

I am sorry for your loss.

Cindy

Oh Pati, I'm so sorry. My sincere thoughts go out to you. But, how wonderful that you were able to have a good phone call with her yesterday. If she had had her birthday, spoken to you and your sister, she perhaps just slipped away almost happily.

When it happens suddenly, it's always harder for the loved ones left, but it is a mercy for the one who has gone. Try to hang on to that if you can. . In message , "Pati, in Phx" writes

Warmest {{{{{hugs}}}}to you and your family in your sorrow Patti. We only have one mother and it is the hardest thing to bear on their passing. You will be feeling totally stunned for a few days, that's normal, go with the flow on that. You are blessed she went peacefully and you actually talked on that day. Same with my mother a few years ago, it made everything so much more bearable - funeral etc. Across the Pacific, Bronnie

(((((Pati))))) How lucky that you had a 'good' conversation with your mother for her birthday, not many are able do do that. Sometimes it helps to vent to friends.

How lovely and sad at the same time. My prayers and comforting thoughts are with you and your family.

I'm so sorry Pati. It's so nice you had a long phone chat and hung up feeling good and with the most wonderful words a mother could hear. Warm wishes to you and your entire family.

She had your love, and was at peace. Yes it hurts, but she knew it was time to go, and she departed gently.

Have some ((((((Pati Hugs)))))). Cry a bit. Remeber the great things you did and shared.

So sorry for your loss Pati - it's exactly a year ago today that my Mum went the same way - she was almost 94. You're darn right it hurts.

Pati, I am so, so very sorry. But thank everything good you spoke with her that last time. That was indeed a blessing. Please accept my deepest sympathies and cyber hugs. I know you are hurting badly right now.

Pati, I am so sorry....

Your mother and mine shared a birthday, it seems; were she still with us, my mother would have been 88 yesterday. She's been gone 15 years come this summer, and I still think of her every day, and in some ways feel closer to her now than I ever did before.

Moms are special. Hugs to you.

Pati, I'm so sorry for you loss. What a wonderful thing that you spoke to her so recently and that she was still sounding good.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{Pati}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I'm sorry for your loss. I know it must be painful to lose your mom, but I'm so glad you had the chance to say one last "I love you."

(((((((( Pati )))))))))) It's never easy to let go. Nothing can prepare us for that final parting. How wonderful that you have such good memories of your last conversation with her. That is precious and will not be forgotten.

Hugs and prayers, Sunny

Oh, Pati, I'm so sorry. Knowing that you had such a sweet conversation so recently and that she was ready to go will surely bring you comfort in the future, but there's no escaping the sadness and pain right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
