LR RCS Meet update/report

Well, I had a great time seeing Dave again and getting to meet Jacqui! Jacqui is such a sweetie. It really was too bad my DS wasn't here, because Jacqui's DS and my DS are close in age and both have and love GeoTrax. If my DS had been here, the boys could have had a ball playing with my DS's train tracks! Of course, we might not have been able to pull them away from them to go LSS shopping. LOL

We all had lunch together on Thursday and my DH dropped by, too. Then we hit one LSS and boy did we shop! LOL Of course, I should also mention the enabling we did too. Kenda and MC found some great printed 12 x 12 vellum with different quotes all over it, and just right for cutting apart I thought. Next thing you know, at least 3 of us had one of each vellum!

So after raiding one LSS, we headed to MC's house. We got out albums then to share. Jacqui is a wonderful, talented scrapper! I can't wait to see what she does with all the goodies she brought! Dave brought the album April made, and just...wow! After seeing it in person, I'm jealous of whomever gets the next one she makes!

Poor Dave though, his car decided it didn't want to be driven anymore and Dave had to take it to a mechanic, just to find out Friday that he had to tow it home. :-( So I took Dave home Friday night with me. DH had a great time getting to know Dave.

We had to say goodbye to Dave on Friday. :-( But we all know we'll see him again, some time. All but Dave spent some time down in MC's scrap room. I won't say too much. You'll just have to wait and see the pictures MC took! (Kenda, think you can distract MC while I steal the camera? Some of those photos might be incriminating!) Kenda had to go home and rest some, but Jacqui, MC and I went to the second LSS. We were so good!!! We might have spent $20 between the three of us. I'm not sure if we were all being especially good, or what!

By now, Jacqui, her DS, and MC should be on their way to San Antonio. Hopefully Dave made it home! If you see a big blast coming from OKC, then it probably means Dave had words with his car. (Love you Dave! hehe) I had a great time getting to know Jacqui and seeing Dave again. Oh how I wish we could have one big 'ol RCS meet where everybody could come!

OOPS! I forgot to rave about the goodies Dave brought! He gave DH and I a wonderful smelling, homemade candle. (I can't wait to burn it!) And of course, he brought scrapping goodies. I now have 2 more kinds of bubble letter stickers, which I'm beginning to think I'm addicted to, some great metallic foil edge tags, and some cute decorative tag diecuts. But my most favorite thing he gave me is a piece of scrap metal with holes in it. I know, you're thinking I've lost my mind, and DH thinks so too! I'm so excited about this metal! I'm going to get a foam head for my brayer, ink up the foam brayer with juicy pigment ink, lay the metal over plain cardstock, and run my brayer over the metal! Tada! Instant polka dots or bubbles! *looking excited and grinning wildly* See? Just gotta get a foam head for my brayer.....

Sounds like you had a great time. I haven't met Dave yet but we have came close a few time just doesn't work out. A big RCS meeting would be a great idea but sorta impossible the way we are scattered everywhere Lin

Sounds like you guys had a ball. Sorry to hear Dave's car gave him a fit. I hope he can get it fixed at home. I wish we could all get together somewhere too. It's neat to get to know the person behind the posts.

I forgot to post last night that Dave made it fine. He was pooped but he was in one piece. Poor Dave, I am so sorry that you had all that trouble with your car. You know that Hugs and good thoughts are coming your way and that I'm looking forward to our next adventure!

BTW, I'm posting from San Antonio and yes, Jacqui and I did manage to find a new LSS in Waco simply by sniffing it out. It must be in the genes!

I'll post more soon about the meet in LR. Let me just say that it was way too much fun and way too short! I am glad that I'll have the opportunity to spend more time with Jacqui, she really is an inspiring, talented woman. I am blessed to have the chance to have met her and call her friend.

It was so good to see Kenda playing again and to see Deb in full shopping mode!

I look forward to seeing Dave again next month when we take ourselves to visit Sabrina and company in KY!

It really is amazing what wonderful human beings belong to this wonderful group.

Nite from San Ant> OOPS! I forgot to rave about the goodies Dave brought! He gave DH and I a

Deb, That sounds like it was a really fun time !!! I am sorry Dave had to deal with a cantankerous car! Bummer!! I agree about the getting together of RCS folks...it is always so much fun and I wish we could all meet up somewhere! Wouldn't that be something !! Glad you all got to have so much fun.

Hugs, Sabrina in Kentucky

a good friend is a life long treasure

Thanks for the report Deb. I sure hope Dave gets home safe & sound. This is why I have an auto club. I don't think I've owned a car that's never needed towed. Even if it was just a blown tire once. I'm glad to hear tha Kenda was able to get out and spend some fun time w/ everyone. I can only imagine, but, isn't going to M-C's scraproom a little like going to another lss?

I nominate Kansas City for an RCS Getaway! Think about it, we're wonderfully centrally located for everyone. We have some of the best lss, and plenty of others too. K&Co even has their offices here. Maybe a tour? Actually I don't even know if they do that anymore. They did when they were smaller. Well, that was my shameless pitch. I'd love to have one great big get together. I know it's hard finding the time & money though.

Thanks for the update M-C. Have a great time in San Antonio. There is also supposed to be a Scrapbook store in Temple and one in Austin I think. :-)

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. I'm sure Kenda was glad to be able to attend. Hopefully she took it easy. What a shame on Dave's car.

I'm sorry for my LOOONNG delay in posting about the LR meet. (my exhusband seems to have found me....but he's back in prison, parole violation (M-C his parole officer was finally tracked down. He was REVOKED!) so that mess is dealt with. Then a good friend of mine (a fireman I went to the fire acadamy with) drowned middle of the week. His funeral was yesterday, DH played the bagpipes at the service then also at the graveside. It was a beautiful fireman's funeral)

I must concer with Deb, Dave and M-C, Jacqui is a sweetie! She's so nice on the group, even nicer in person! What a delight to be around. Her DS is a cutie! very lively and just a doll.....

Was great to see Dave again. Dave, I'm so sorry about your car! I was relieved to see that you had made it in. DH kept asking if you'd arrived and I kept looking, bad M-C! LOL Dave brought some wonderful fabric for us to paw through. Seems he was able to raid the "trash" from the costume designer for his boss. He brought the most beautiful fabric!!!! Everyone sorted through it took what they wanted then I got to take it with me!!!! I took it to my mother's yesterday after the funeral and we went through it. Loads of really nice stuff. We could see flowers, doll bodies, doll clothes all kinds of wonderful things. THANKS DAVE!!!!! Mom says THANK YOU!!!

Friday came to soon and Dave had to leave, and early at that since he had to take his car home. We missed you Dave!!!

I enjoyed visiting with everyone and it was great to be back among the living. Lunch was wonderful, very pleased that Deb's DH could make it, he's such a great guy. And quite the pot stirrer! LOL Deb, I had planned to use some of that vellum for Father's Day cards, but just ran out of steam. When I went to put it away, I discovered I had some others that I forgot I'd bought. But that's not the first time I've done that....

Jacqui I hope you enjoy your travels and are safe. M-C enjoy your trip with Jacqui. Dave, don't cuss the car too bad. Deb, it was good to see you, it has been WAY too long! We need to get together more often.

I did take it easy. It's hard to remember NOT to lift more that 5 lbs. I was very tired after the lunch and shopping. As well as the visit on Friday, but it was good to be "normal" again.....

Yes Katrina, going to M-C's scrap room is like a LSS! LOL It was fun to get out again....

Your gonna be in KY????? I"m only 3 hours from there!!! HRM......... email me details!!! Maybe if I can find someone to crash with I could show up... depending upon my work schedule...

Pass on the details as soon as you know them so I can see if I can work out my schedule. Sandy

I must say that I am relieved to know that they threw his b--t in jail. Now just how long will he be there this time? Whatever it is it will be too short!

M-C

I'm glad he's back in jail Kenda. Hopefully he'll stay there this time!

It was way way WAY too long seeing each other! You're right, we have to get together more often. Although, is the world really ready for that? LOL

Kenda, So glad you got to enjoy the get together and share it with us!! I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. I don't know about the ex but glad he is back where he seems to belong. It sounds as if everyone had a good time and I am so glad you are feling better. Keep taking care of yourself and sending you big HUGS!

Hugs, Sabrina in Kentucky

a good friend is a life long treasure

He now has to complete his sentence which is 7 years. Not long enough but I know that it won't be easy on him so I think it will end up being extended due to "poor behavior" and crimes commited while on the inside. (I bought a carton of cigs yesterday...wink, wink)

Thank you Sabrina. It was of course very sudden, you never know just how many friends a person has until they pass away. He was remembered wonderfully!

The ex is not a nice guy. He's where he needs to be. Fortunately I have good friends who look out for me and keep an eye on me even when I don't know it!

I wish we could all get together more often then we do, if I had a wish it would be that everyone could get together at once, for at least 3 days.

Big hugs back to you!
