First Yarn Store Trip!

May 02, 2005 8 Replies

Hi everyone,

This weekend I visited a local yarn store. All About Yarn in Columbia, MD. I had never been to real yarn store before. I've only ever gone to Michael's, Walmart, etc. and you know how that can be.

I couldn't believe it! I never knew there could be so many different colors, styles and textures. And it was so homey and friendly, too!

I ended up getting some pretty bright green and green/purple variegated cotton to make placemats.

Mind you, I can't afford to go every time I need yarn, but I will go for special projects.

Anyway, I was so excited I thought I'd share.

Susana

Evil enablers lurk here - guilty of suggesting you just go in and admire the yarn. It won't call out to you and beg you to take it off the shelves and out of the cubby holes. (She says smiling slyly)

Do we get to see pics of the placemats when you are done??

I love yarn stores. Even when I don't need any yarn (hit S.A.B.L.E.), I just enjoy the way it looks and feels.

I know exactly how you feel, Susana! I felt the same my first time. It's a whole new world, isn't it?

It's a pleasure that never grows old!

It's intoxicating......isn't it? ;-)

Susana, that must have been a real treat for you, hope you will visit many other real yarn stores in the future....its the real thing

I think I would feel guilty if I didn't buy anything. It's so out of the way for me, I'd only go there to shop.

If I ever get a digital camera, I would post my pics but I don't think that's happening any time soon. But here's a link of what I'm doing.

And the silks they have! And the laceweight merino! I could go broke in there...
