Nosy Pat here wondering if any one has finished quilts or quilted items for Christmas gifts. (Or for other holiday if you prefer.) I have not done any this year but hope to make some in 2009.

Here is a grocery bag I did or an in-law who was on my list. I have made a bunch of them, for us, and still am making them from left over quilting pieces. A very good way to use up all the pieces that remain from those masterpieces we all create. The rule is, you never can have too many grocery bags. I get lots of commentary from the others in the checkout line, and those who state that they are quilters said they were going to go home and whip out some themselves.
I didn't do any this year, either, Pat. However, yesterday I did deliver the baby quilt I made for my former student's first baby! She was suitably pleased (though she called it a blanket ), so I'm happy. :)
Oh Roberta! I don't remember hearing about the wedding? Did you go over to the US for it - I think you said you were going to, but arrangements change, of course. Didn't hear about your outfit; the bride's dress, bridesmaids, and so on. Even a photo or two? Please fill us in ... ... only interested, as I know it is something you've been looking forward to for years! . In message , Roberta writes
John,
I can't remember. Did you post a pattern for this bag or is this one you created on your own? If it's a pattern from the net, I would love it if you would post them link!
Thanks, Dannielle
I made my son a quilt. It's been done for a couple weeks (quite shocking to be so organized!) Simple quilt - flannel bricks and backed in flannel too so it will be nice and cozy. I used the alphabet on my sewing machine to put a to - from label on the binding. It looks very cool if I do say so myself.

I have finished 2 quilts. One is a hungry caterpillar quilt for a very young niece that will also have the book for her and a quilt for my Mom using Kaffe Fasset fabrics. Mom like bright and this quilt certainly qualifies as that! I'm in the process of finishing two very large quilted pillows and that will complete my quilty projects for this holiday season!
I finished a quilt for my 3 yo DGD and in the process of quilting one for 3 yo DGS. Third DGS will get his quilt for his birthday in January.
No I didn't use a published pattern. They came about as a result of a contest over at another sewing website that I post too called Pattern Review. I had made some sewing machine covers using some of the scraps and just used the model for those and added handles and a padded dark color bottom piece so as to protect from dirt and anchor the handles at the bottom of the sides of the bag. They work really well and you can load them up with heavy things like 2 gallons of milk or other heavy items and they can handle it. I used a heavy interfacing that I sandwiched between the folded over layers of the handle, and made sure to anchor the contact points of the handle to the quilted bag sides with x pattern anchor points. I used the cut off batting from some previously made quilts, so everything considered, they were pretty cheap to make. I cranked out one a day so they are not too bad if you have the squared made up ahead of time. They get a lot of positive comments, and they answer the age old question, "Paper or Plastic."?

Continue working on the Country Quilt for my niece. Just have to get the neuropathy to settle down again (didn't like shopping at all yesterday, at all, at all! ).
Butterfly (Had a FANTASTIC Check-up--don't have to go back for 2 moths But I still am in PT for those months)

Ah, thanks Roberta. It was when you said you had gained a son-in-law that I thought it must have happened already. The dress sounds lovely - what a great idea. I hope you all have a wonderful time - though I'm sure you will. I'm really happy for you. Have a marvellous time together, and then Christmas. . In message , Roberta writes
Howdy!
There are Finished quilts here. Those that are Finished before Christmas might be gifts *for* Christmas, but that would be coincidental (I don't quilt to a holiday deadline). Several craft-type items have also been added to the pile... er.. collection; others are in the works; Finished for 2009 sounds good to me.
Meanwhile, here's a little Christmas cheer (well, it made me laugh):

I did 5 of the v-shaped flannel should warmers that Jeanne had posted the link for a while back - did those at the retreat last weekend. All spoken for.
Have started on a baby quilt for one of the Spanish interpreters at work [Noah's Ark panel backed by yellow rubber ducky flannel!]. Won't be done in time for the holidays but should be done for the baby!

If so, you should come on down to Williamsburg Area to recuperate, and enjoy the Christmas ambiance there and in wonderful Yorktown. Plus, you can call me and we can get together!! Email me off list for contact information. Bon Voyage! PAT in VA/USA
