Another addict in the making and a chuckle

I taught my DD to do the spiral and she just finished her necklace:

She used size 6 beads. She was going to make it longer, but I started worrying about if this Nymo would be strong enough for how heavy it was getting. After reading a little bit, I had a duh moment when I realized we could have doubled the thread. The holes in those beads are plenty big enough for several passes, even doubled. Anyway, we're waiting for Hobby Lobby to put beads on sale at 1/2 price, and I told her she could go pick out some more beads. I don't know when I'll get over to the LBS again, and HL is a lot closer, so we'll go check out what they have there.

AND

I was looking at catalogs and told hubby that I just want every size 8 and size 11 bead in every color out there and was that too much to ask? Ok, I'm figuring he thinks these little tubes are probably 79 cents a tube or something, so he said, "Well, go ahead and order them.........................." and then I think sanity hit him or something because he added, "Unless there's like 100 different colors or something."

Little does he know.

Sigh. Good thing my birthday and Christmas are coming!

Im so enjoying this. Ok, its this little mean part in me that finds it amusing when other people get hooked on wonderful new things to do. Wouldnt it be wonderful to have one of those huge drop off bins full of seed beads, just to wallow in them up to your neck? Im glad you and DD are having fun, thats the whole point, isnt it? Diana

There's enough thread going through the center of the spiral that I wouldn't worry ...

That's really pretty... the orange seeds have a glow, they remind me of something fruity and tropical.

Don't show him the FMG catalog with dozens of pages of 11s in unlimited colors and several shapes. Especially not the prices. Since you go through each core bead at least 4 times, weight is not really a problem. the single strand part only supports 3 outer beads each time. try to break a piece of nymo B with your hands, it will cut you first. That is a good halloween piece, adding a gold bead as the center one of the

3 would make it really glitzy, kids seem to like glitz. Armand

Thanks Elise and Armand for pointing that out to me!!! I'd fogotten how much thread passes through. I just knew DD would be heartbroken if her necklace fell apart.

I am looking for this picture and I think you have deleted it. I think I found a pattern on line for it, but mine is not looking right and I wanted to take a look at your daughter's again. I have some beads that this would be perfect to do with and wanted to give it a go.

If you could repost this one. I would love it!
