OT: Good news, finally

The doctor called (while I was making beads of course) at five minutes to five, and I'm FINE! The tumor hasn't grown at ALL in eight years, my head is totally OK! I don't know what the headaches are from, but at least it's not something that's going to have to be yanked out of my brain via my nostrils. (Yes, that's how they actually do the surgery... GROSS.)

The doc asked again if I was feeling any sinus pressure, and I explained to him again that I have lived with sinus infecions all my life and I almost never fel sinus pressure anymore. He said that the MRI techs commented on my sinus walls looking pretty "thickened" (gross) which is an indication of recent or chronic severe infection. Yeah duh. However, I don't even have to have antibiotics because the techs said I'm not currently infected. Woo hoo!

Oh Kalera, I am so glad to hear that everything turned out fine. I know you are relieved.

I am going to try my best to call you this week. I'm really bad about that picking up the phone thing too (another thing we have in common besides our love of glass LOL!).

((((((hugs))))))

So glad you finally heard from the doc. And really glad it's not the tumor!!!!

I have a feeling my sinuses look horrible too - I've had chronic sinus/allergy problems for years now.

I'm so glad it's "nothing serious". But what can be done about the sinuses? I can see "thickened sinuses" becoming an ever increasing problem as you continue to live. Unfortunately doctors are about corrective measures (drugs and surgery) and most often do not or even cannot advise you on how to live for maximum wellness.

I have never had sinus problem. OK, maybe one or two infections in 55, but nothing I can easily remember, so I can't think of any advice off hand.

My husband is a great believer that most physical illness is a symptom of and connection to psychic unwellness. And/or that illness manifests itself in ways related to psychic unwellness. No doubt he would wonder if you need to examine issues of something being "in your face". Like singers who's unwellness manifests in their throats. I have to admit, this one of his beliefs isn't all that comfortable for me. But after looking at reasonable reasons for a problem, or solutions to a problem, there's no harm in checking out things that sound odd, but might work.

That's super -- and by the way - I meant to tell you - My mom has had one of those pituitary tumor things for almost 15 years (that she KNOWS of ) -- and it hasn't changed but a teensy bit in the last ten.... it's still smaller than a small marble... they told her it is unusual if they change.... She doesn't even worry about hers...

My mom (and whole family) has chronic allergies and sinus problems.

My mom has "NO sinus" cavity left on one side of her face - and hardly any on the other.....

There are surgical options -- however they can be dangerous -- a friend of my mom's husband died during one... Though there is a "laser" type available now that is less dangerous... A friend of mine had his operated on - the laser surgery - and it worked great for him (unfortunately he died of other causes less than 2 years later 0- so I can't say what the "long term" effect would be).

Best "medical " intervention is EARLY intervention against any and all inflammation and infections -- .... TREAT THEM!!!!

Thanks, *EVERYONE*!

I don't think anything can be done about the sinuses... although I have heard that if you have bad sinuses and bad tonsils, (and I do) removing the tonsils can bring sinus relief. The best cure/prevention I've found yet is to flush them out with saline solution on a regular basis... works even when antibiotics don't.

"In my face" issues? Well, there's an area to explore... I'll have to think on that. It's probably related to my telephone phobia, which I apparently share with Paulette as well.
