Yes, agreed . . . but that's another question for the voting booth. :-) Right now we're voting on whether or not we should do A, B, or C. :-)

There's nothing like a challenge. As soon as I say we never do something, by goodness, it's being done. :-)

Also, although only a few of us stitched or were a "working" part of this project, it was not possible for all volunteers to take a physical part of this project. Therefore, quite a few were involved from the very beginning and were eager to cheer us all on or offer suggestions along the way. Therefore, I'm not certain that we should limit the vote to only those who actively participated in the project.

For instance, I volunteered to stitch, but there's nothing left to stitch and there are other volunteers ahead of me, anyway.

I've been unable to maintain a good connection for any length of time for the last several days so I'm picking and choosing what I read -- IOW, I haven't read everything in this thread

I don't think using a fire ax or simulating a hose is inappropriate for the frame. Matter of fact, it personalizes the project for the recipients. In addition, I'd love to see an appropriate word or phrase burned into or etched on a frame, rather than or in addition to a plaque.
