There are many organizations that do much much more than just send cheques--look into some of the "on the ground" aid organizations, and you will find many opportunites to educate women.. Much of the work with AIDS prevention in Africa is carried out through educating women. There have been special projects to help recover the education system for girls in Afghanistan. On a "each one help one" level, over the years, I have sponsored a number of girls through a very reputable organization, all of whom are educated women today. Dawne

Dawne,

Would you forward me the name of this group privately?

Cheryl

When they come over here it is very common for Indian people to successfully set up and prosper in various businesses. You very rarely see or hear of people from Africa doing likewise.

Thats Melbourne for ye. I know electricians that have lived in Melbourne for 40 years and still do not understand "CAUTION - LIVE CABLE" - even when awake. An electrical qualification does not a genius make, heck not even half a genius! Electrical quals are no longer a measure of intelligence or comprehension, havent been for some years - anywhere on the planet.

To wit. When it takes five rounds at PBR to drop a target then I say its fair to recognise who was panicing [sic]. And I for one do not find fault in that , given the 'circumstantial evidence' in the workplace, and that is what it is - a job. Those guys made a calculated appraisal of risk and took "standard action". They didnt have the resources to write to a NG first and gain consensus Bit of bad luck for the guy IF he was not involved at all in anything dodgy but you get that on these Big Projects. Everyone is a combatant in Terrorism circles. Combatants get slain or survive. I guess the Poms have to get a grip on that and educate everyone as to just what a "war status" does mean for Joe Public. Blair has declared War on Terrorists, has he not?

Sorry, disagree Nicole - provided he *was* on the "up an up" - he is dead because he was a d*****ad. Something somewhere would have got him eventually anyway. Maybe a N035 bus would have run over him when crossing against the 'No Walk'??

Now that Pat has corrected her method of posting, her last paras would be visible.

Now our home-grown idiots are going to pay his parents compensation! Personally, I`d send them a bill for the bullets!

In every country that has immigrants, you will find people who for some reason , never are completely speaking or understanding the local language.

WEll Lucretia , i have my Gas mask at home [ by law ] and we used in the First Gulf war when missiles Fell here and nobody knew whether they will carry Some Poison [ biological or chemical] mirjam

Dianne you speak about a Scientist with Secrets, in this case he was to their feeling betraying the `Heimat` [homeland], As i had a meeting with a Academic German History of Law , i asked the question again. People who didn`t join the party were as i said not as well off as party members. Some people who had Special professions [ like your ex father in law seems to have had] , were `expected` to join the party willingly, and many did . But they were not put in concentration camps for refusing like Monic Claimed. There was a lot of Social pressure, and at times some harrasment.. many people just went on Doing their Jobs without being Party members. And were never harrased or called to become members. ..

Maybe Here is your reason for him being Pushed or harrased , but many Mine owners , as well as other Rich Manufacturrers , just kept on working , without ever joining the party and survived quite well... The nazies didn`t National all wealth. if they had , maybe they would have never come to government !!!!! On the contrary Their economic system was very good for banks, manufactureres etc,,,, The Autostradas , the Big buildings built, Volkswagen [ ....a car for each worker....as the nazies Promised] have turned the economical crisis of the 30s into a thriving country with work for all . And Work places also providing for the Vater land`s aims , were not Nationalized. mirjam >

Ps Dianne , yes many kept a low profile and lived through it all , But Jewish people couldn`t even do this . mirjam

I read and heard [too many] evidences of people who Knew exactly what was going on ,,,, Remember that in most countries Local police , train workers , judges , people who ` received` a factory or workshop or any property , almost for nothing.Last year i translated an Official Dutch Document, that outlaid exactly how to get Ownership of a Jewish factory or shop in less that 48 hours. only by filling in some papers. Let`s state tye Uneasy truth , they were quite glad to get Rid of the Jewish population.

Many bodies were burned.

As we all do about such cases.

It has been prooved by checking numbers , that in places were Local Authorithies didn`t help , or opposed some of it , less people were killed. mirjam

As i answered above , i havec read and heard too many evidences and descriptions of people who saw and understood what they saw. Trains in Europe at this time weren`t enclosed , nore as quick as now. Window less cattle wagons with people shouting at times , or throwing out things at times , or stopping at local stations , to give way to Army Trains..or load coal or water , or even exchange the soldiers guarded the trains. . all contributed to many people knowing. One reason my parents fled Hollnad was because they knew. In many of the letters i am, now translating , although sent out of Occupied Holland, there are Open hints to it. Lately i saw a film about several Belgian Young guys who stopped a train , and managed to save many people. Karen we had this `debate` before, and you made it qiute clear that our families were not on the same `side` mirjam On Sun, 31 Jul 2005 18:42:12 -0700, Karen C - California own (who wasn't "in on it") had the time

Lucille Give my regards to your niece ,,,, mirjam

Last wek i watched the memorial Ceremony in Hiroshima , to remember the 60th year after it. It was touching and painful.

I also saw that BBC [not the world one i see at home] at breakfast time the gave each day a little film in which people who fought or were imprisoned in the Far East During ww2 told about their memories. mirjam

If you really want to know what the status of women in India is ? ask yourself why there are so many abortion clinics in India who abort female fetouses??? mirjam
