OT: Innocent?

Now with your last para I can agree. We DO have to get on with our lives, be grateful we have them and live. Any other maundering means that the terrorists win.

I can say that when I saw the news in London come, I felt a moment of pride for you bloody English, that people returned to the subway and seemed to automatically regenerate the Blitz mentality. It's the only way to go. I wish they would take out the stupid 'security' at airports and allow passengers to accept that perhaps flying is a risk for no matter what is done (viz CCTV cameras) terrorists cannot be stopped. All of life is a chance, some chances are worse than others.

I also read, rightly or incorrectly, that his name and address was found in one of the aborted backpacks. The main point is DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT THE MEDIA BURBLES!!!! Yes, I am shouting, but all these folks are there to hopefully report real news, or otherwise report all the suppositions. That gives hem their paycheck.

Not his name, Gill, just the address, which building happened to contain more than one apartment. Seems that is where the trouble stemmed from.

That still doesn't make shoting him right. And it doesn't make him less innocent.

I know germans who have lived in Melbourne (Aus) for 40 years and still wouldn't understand "POLICE - DON'T MOVE" if they were panicing.

Yes, because he happened to live in the same house as the terrorist, but in a different appartment. I live in a house with 17 appartments and if one of the other people living here were a criminal that would not make me one aswell.

Ok, keep taking my words completely out of context to make your points... I'm sure I can do the same.....

No, it had the benefit of not being arrested. It had the benefit of not ending up in a concentration camp.

I'm sure you know this so well because you have been here when it all happened. I'm also sure you know all this because you have talked to a lot of germans who lived during the time.

You see, you don't know many germans personally and still you judge us by the behaviour of 2 generations past.

As we passed your exit on the highway, I waved and yelled to you, didn't you hear me????? I thought I glimpsed you on your swing, glass in hand lol

At the risk of starting this all over again! No conspiracy theories

- she was a silly idiot who did not do up her seat belt and got into a car with a person driving who not trained properly for driving and possibly was the worse for wear from drink.

If she had fastened her seat belt, she would be alive. The person in the seat ahead of her is and he was sitting in what is commonly known as the death seat - but he had his belt done up.

I just have to tell you - I am sure I glimpsed Elvis in Kittery, he was in one of the outlets shopping - we all know he's alive - he didn't die really, he just wanted to avoid all the fame. Then there was the Virgin Mary, saw her at the Timmies in Aulac. I won't bore you with more famous people I spotted whom we all know are not dead!

I am sure that El Al passengers are well searched etc Mirjam - but one has to remember that the El Al fleet consists of what ? Six aircraft? It is not possible to do the same for Air Canada with something like

3000 aircraft in the air at anytime. Ergo, if it can't be done properly, let it go and make sure everyone understands they are playing the odds.

Statistics prove whatever anyone wants them to prove - are they half empty or half full?

It's the danger of stats and what people make of them. Back in the

50s and 60s if you could have introduced me to a German who admitted they had been a Nazi, I would have shown you a miracle.

Correct but it does explain how he came to be shot

Then they must be abnormally slow witted. I think I would recognize it by the tone of the order and instinctively know running would not be a good idea. I cannot believe that he was totally unaware of what had happened in the recent weeks on tubes and busses.

I am against violence, and certainly against the police having too many powers, against governments taking advantage of the current times with things like the Patriot Act, wildly against CCTV cameras which were touted as being a prevention, but still, where this unfortunate lad was concerned, wrong time, wrong place, very much the wrong reaction and a not surprising outcome.

Some of us here are still around with pungent memories of the war. Mirjam may be too young but Pat, myself and Gillian all remember being bombed every night, having very little to eat etc. Something that completely shaped your childhood is never forgotten! Have you forgotten how you grew up???
